Tonight - A Poem
Tonight I stood under the stars,
Those ancient messengers from afar,
How woeful and lonely they must be
Adrift in such an endless sea ~
Tonight I stood 'neath silvered moon,
timeless bastion against depths of gloom,
as I gazed at her, and she at me
my heart lifted, my soul set free
Tonight I watched quickening skies
while I pondered my life, my loves, my lies
like clouds at sunset, my memories burn
till at last to dust, I return
Although still a somewhat primitive effort as things so, I still think this poem is one of my better efforts
overall. Another poem that came to me almost fully formed as I walked the dog one night, looking at the stars. - the Author
